YOUROPE CAMP 2015 – Here we gooo!

,

Protokoll der YOUROPE-Parlamentssitzung am Donnerstag, 30. April 2015

(SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH VERSION!)

Viel zu tun also.

Gerade eröffnen die YOUROPE-Parlamentsvorsitzenden Sarah „Gutemiene“ Jäger und Eva „Granola“ Wormit die Plenarsitzung. “Although there are still people from Austria on the way to our camp, I think it’s great that already now, Guides and Scouts from 15 European nations gathered in little Bad Honnef!“ Es folgte donnernder Applaus des Plenums – wahrscheinlich eine Seltenheit im Europaparlament, bevor überhaupt der erste Beschluss gefasst wurde.

Dabei sorgen die Luxemburgerinnen gerade für Lachen: „Unfortunately, we’re only two people from Luxemburg… but this may be metaphorical for our ‘huge’ population…”

Record of YOUROPE Parliamentary Session on Thursday, April 30th 2015

Today, the extraordinary Session YOUROPE started in Bad Honnef, Germany. It was called by the BdP. 160 young parliamentarians from 16 EU Member States arrived during the day on the Isle of Grafenwerth. Besides the EU Membership, the young people unify the community in the worldwide spirit of Guiding and Scouting. In the next days, they will discuss political topics concerning the EU like financial crisis, sustainability, refugee matters, a shift to the right within the European politics or TTIP. The goal of the extraordinary session? Leaving Europe a little better than they found it. A tough agenda, though.

In this moment, Chiefs of YOUROPE-Parliament Sarah “Gutemiene” Jäger and Eva “Granola” Wormit open the Plenary Session. “Although there are still people from Austria on the way to our camp, I think it’s great that already now, Guides and Scouts from 15 European nations gathered in little Bad Honnef!” These words were followed by enthusiastic applause of the Plenary – probably something really seldom in European Parliament Sessions even before the first decision has made. But already now a proof of the phenomenal atmosphere and collaboration at YOUROPE, in spite of ice-cold temperatures and never-ending rain.

Step by step, all delegates introduce themselves by putting a little flag into a big map of Europe and telling something typical for their country. The girls from Luxemburg just make the plenary laugh: „Unfortunately, we’re only two people from Luxemburg… but this may be metaphorical for our ‘huge’ population…”

The first Plenary Session will surely take half of the night in the beautiful plenary hall “Crossroads”, where the plenary session spontaneously takes place due to the ugly weather.

Stay with us tomorrow when we report about the Committee Meetings and take you to the campsite with some audios!
